Creating an online course with Genie is as simple as describing what you want to build.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or using your own documents as source material, Genie helps you generate a course overview, syllabus, lesson content, quizzes, and final assessments — all through a natural conversation inside the GoSkills Course Builder.

See how Genie creates an online course from start to finish, including the course overview, syllabus, lessons, quizzes, and final test.
Step 1: Create a new course
Switch to Creator mode and open the Course Builder.
Click Create a course, then select Multi-lesson course.
Once your new course opens, the Genie chat will appear on the right-hand side, ready to help you get started.

Step 2: Describe the course you want to create
Tell Genie what you’d like to build.
For example:
“Create an onboarding course that teaches employees how to use AI safely at work.”
The more context you provide, the better Genie can tailor the course to your audience.
Genie will begin by generating:
- A course title
- A course overview
- A cover image
Everything can be edited later in the Course Builder.

Step 3: Generate your course syllabus
Next, ask Genie to generate a complete course syllabus with sections, lesson titles, and descriptions.
Review the structure and make any changes you’d like before moving on to lesson creation.

Step 4: Create lesson content
Now it’s time to bring your course to life.
Ask Genie to generate lesson content for your syllabus.
You can also upload existing documents — such as company policies, manuals, or reports — and ask Genie to use them as source material for specific lessons or sections.
Genie can generate:
- Bite-sized lesson content
- Relevant images
- Knowledge check quizzes
💡 Tip: Want to create training from your existing documents? Learn how in Create courses from existing documents with Genie.

Step 5: Refine your course
Genie works like a conversation.
If you’d like to change something, simply ask.
For example:
- “Make this lesson more conversational.”
- “Reduce this quiz to three questions.”
- “Expand this topic with another example.”
- “Rewrite this lesson for beginner learners.”
You can continue refining your course until you’re happy with the results.
Step 6: Generate a final test
When your lessons are complete, ask Genie to create a final assessment.
For example:
“Generate a 10-question final test.”
Genie will generate the assessment, which you can preview and edit before publishing.

Continue improving your course
Publishing isn’t the end of the journey.
You can return to your course at any time and ask Genie to:
- Update lesson content
- Rewrite explanations
- Adjust the tone for a different audience
- Regenerate quizzes
- Reorganize your course structure
